Employers Responsibilities

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (HSWA) requires employers to ensure, so far as reasonably practicable, the health, safety, and welfare of their employees while at work. 

It also requires you to protect other people who may be affected by your work activities.


This includes creating and maintaining a safe workplace, identifying hazards, managing risk, providing safe systems of work and adequate training and supervision.  By using a health and safety professional, you protect your team, prevent accidents, and build workplace confidence and trust. 

Legislation

All businesses are required to comply with additional legislation such as The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999. Depending on your industry and type of work equipment used, other legislation may apply, for example CDM regulations 2015 for construction based businesses or LOLER and PUWER for lifting and work equipment.
